"Contemporary Connections: Globalization" Victoria Pucci-Schaefer Section 2, Group D

In the Globalization Article it talks about the idea of global advertising which caught my eye. This idea of world wide advertisement is something that happens and a majority of the worlds population doesn't even notice. With a generation that is on their phones for a majority of the day, social media is a part of each and everyones day. Therefore, companies decided that marketing via internet cites such as Twitter and Facebook was the best way to get their message out to the public.

According to the article, "Global Advertisement is the key technology for the worldwide dissemination of a plethora of creative, and cultural well-chosen, of consumer agency." This is the generation of having access from a majority of countries all over the world to a whole lot of information that we didn't have before. The idea of global advertisement is an amazing way to bring many cultures and ideas together through the click of a button as well as to share businesses that are only located in a specific area to a grander scale.

This idea of global advertisement made me stop and think about how many daily incounters that I myself have with companies that are not from the United States marketing to me online. For instance, I visit Canada a lot and shop at a store called Muskoka Bearwear, I know follow them on both Instagram and Facebook and see their promotions come up all the time. The same thing goes for grands such as Topshop and Boden which I have shopped at as well but are both foreign stores. With all the technology the way it is the world is my diversified with its use of the online resources and the market for buying and selling goods to different countries is now something that can work because of global advertising.

  1. I liked your post. I feel like companies that advertise their products via social media have an advantage over companies who do not because they can connect with their customers more. I agree with how you think global advertisement is a good way to expand the recognition of businesses.

  2. I agree with you Victoria and Branden. I think that these major companies are advertising their products to us everyday on certain social media sites. When I scroll through my Twitter feed I always see stuff about well-know companies that are advertising their products. It has become so big that they even started to sponsor professional teams to get even more advertising. It seems that our world just revolves around advertising.

  3. I agree with the fact that today's generation is all about their phones and social media. Also that companies think their best interest is to advertise on social media. Now every form of social media has advertisements and you end up looking at them because, they literally just pop up!

  4. I really liked your post, you never really think about who/where the business is when you're scrolling through Twitter but it's cool to think about the fact that because of social media and all the advances we've made we now have access to companies and businesses from all over the world. And those companies/businesses are able to expand their customer base.

  5. Great post Victoria! Now-a-days technology is unavoidable with the way our generation uses it. I think that companies that promote themselves through social media will attract customers at a younger age. I feel I see advertisement on either twitter, Instagram or Facebook at least one a day.

  6. Wonderful! People will not get off their phones now a days. With companies that promote on social media and pop-up adds will most definitely attract the younger generations and that will probably go on through the future generations too.

  7. I agree with your point. Nowadays people pay too much attention on social media, people use smartphones and computers all the time.Advertise are all over the social media. I think people wouldn't pay a lot attention on the ads if there are too many, usually just skip it.
