The link/ image I chose to share is the song "Same Love" by Macklemore ad Ryan Lewis.
The reason I chose this song is because, in today's society, religion, race, sex, sexuality, and culture in general are all extremely judged by everyone in America. This song is about how we are all the same. We are all human no matter where we are born, no matter who our parents are, and no matter what we are like inside or out.
In the song "Same Love" the lyrics, "It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion. Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment” truly explain today's society involving multiculturalism. Macklemore's goal is to remind us that we need to fight for equality for everyone, and decrease the hatred toward all minority groups. Human rights apply to everybody with no exceptions.
In the article "Detectives, dancers, dolls" Martin Klepper said "Thus, culture became an additional source of difference within and between nations." This quote connects to multiculturalism in America because, we have people from all nations living with us. We do have differences in America, but we also have similarities. As I mentioned earlier, we are all human no matter what. Being able to live in America is one the most amazing opportunities that anyone could have, and we shouldn't judge anyone based on their race, sex, sexuality, or cultural background. We all need to live together and fight for what we all believe in together.
I agree with your statement on the lyrics of this song. I can see this occurring on in many songs. As I looked at the lyrics for the song, I saw how that society is constantly trying to change the generations that are growing up. This song makes a nice point that how people will always stick to their roots even when change occurs and when we are introduced to new cultures.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this! Many songs that are produced today have many meanings towards equality for all humans. People need to look past a person's religion and race and treat them like a normal human being, because the are one. It is great that many of these artists are able to promote something good in their songs.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. As I thought songs are having many different way to show their meaning to be a human being. Even though throw the religions, race, sex, and cultural background. People might have to challenge to get over for these problems.
