These are links are to the songs Where is the Love? and #WHERESTHELOVE By The Black Eyed Peas. The original song (Where is the Love?) came out in 2003 and due to been a huge hit, they created a new version #WHERESTHELOVE ft The World which was released on August 31st, 2016. This was a collaboration of artists within the Music Industry and the proceeds went to educational programs and college scholarships.
will.i.am responded to the Paris attack "Millennials are powerful, I don't think they realize just how powerful they are. I hope this song inspires the millennials to go all out, scream from the tallest mountain, care like your freedom depends on it. Pay attention like that is at risk."
The first song's main focus was race where the second song focused on a variety of subjects; race, gender, sexuality and culture. I personally remember watching the music video for the first time and just crying at how inspirational it was. I think this song is very relevant today.

From the website above, Encyclopedia of American Studies, I choose two quotes to share "Multiculturalism promotes the idea that diverse groups should be able to participate fully in the national culture while maintaining important aspects of their community cultures." and "America has always been characterized by diversity." I think these quotes perfectly describe America. Think about it you can walk into a mall and see many different skin tones, hear different languages, and even eat a variety of cultured foods. This is was makes America so great, without diversity I think America would be dull. The first quote I stated made me immediately think of #WHERESTHELOVE? It proves that different races, religions, ages, and sexes can work together to fight for equality! Maybe this song just be played on the radio again?!
I completely agree with you! I also feel that diversity is a characteristic of America and it has so much to offer anyone. I also remember when #wheresthelove came out and my family watched it over 5 times in a row because it's message was so clear. That we need all need to care no matter what race, gender, sexuality, or culture. Just after reading this contemporary connections post I went and watched both songs over and over again.
